About Nate:
Nate Thor Odden is a skilled audio engineer whose commercial work has been released by major labels such as Warner Records, Warp Records, Columbia, and Sony Music.
Nate doesn’t like to talk about himself much, but if you’re a musician in New York City, you’ve probably heard his name. Wether it’s by working at Avatar Studios, Red Bull Music Studio, or hearing the unique and aggressive drum sounds of “Battles” or “Son Lux”, Nate is known as more than an engineer, but a craftsman.
Nate reliably captures album-ready sounds straight from the source. He is a secret weapon to New York’s best artists and producers. Not only is he a technical wiz, but as a former trained operatic singer, he intimately knows music.
Nate studied Sound Recording Technology at SUNY Fredonia under renowned engineer/producer Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Mercury Rev). He then spent eight years honing his skills at Manhattan’s Avatar Studios, recording grammy winning artists, assisting the worlds best audio engineers, and working on damn near every broadway original cast album made in New York City at that time. With his unique background, Nate is adept in working in any genre of music, from orchestral to rap and jazz to metal.
